The general plot of the game is that you're an inmate named Torque and a scary one at that who may or may not have killed his ex-wife and child. The thing is, you're a bit under the weather or 'sick' as it may be and cannot remember a thing. You're on an island in a prison much like Alcatraz, however, many people have been killed or tortured there over the years and this particular day they decide to come back from the dead and make hell on the island.
The game starts with an intro like something you'd see in a movie with character development kicking in straight away as you see 5 inmates on death row talking to Torque as he sits quietly in his cell. Unfortunately, within 5 minutes, those inmates are beheaded, diced up or dragged through the ceiling with only their screams being heard. Rather luckily, due to all the weird happenings, Torques cell door is blown open and off you go to escape the prison.
The first thing that will strike you is how atmospheric the game is with realistic shadows, gunfire in the background, blood smeared across the walls or dripping through cracks in the roof. The second thing is that it's all quite disturbing. For example, you walk into a room to find dead guards and one that’s still alive, crawling towards you, torn in half and leaving a trail of blood. The amount of interaction with the scenery is also very impressive i.e. being able to turn on lights, taps, flush toilets and lots of other items.
The game is also very open with three different endings depending on how you play the game. For example, near the beginning, you're about to walk into a room when the door bursts open and a guard is in front of you pointing a gun at your head. The game slows down a little and your conscious literally kicks in when two voices are heard. One is a sweet ladies voice that says 'Let him live' and the other, a low nightmarish male voice that would say 'Fu**ing slit his throat'. And so points would be marked whether you do good things or bad throughout the game.
The enemies you fight in the game are all the tortured souls from over the years and each monster type represents how they were sentenced to death. For example, an enemy called a Slayer was a person who was killed by being beheaded. This particular enemy has swords for arms and legs, and their head is held above their body by a metal frame. Another is an enemy that was killed by lethal injection. This enemy has glowing syringes all over its body and sticking out of its eyes. You can also blow bits of their bodies off. If you were to shoot the Slayers head, it explodes and cannot see you so just wildly attacks anywhere. Scared inmates also pose a threat.
The weapons in the game are all everyday weapons, not unrealistic ghost weapons or anything. You can acquire dual pistols, a shotgun, a tommy gun and something called a Shiv which is anything in a prison that is improvised into a sharp object. In this case it is part of a bed railing that has been sharpened to a point. Excellent for close quarter stabbing. There are also other weapons hidden around.
All in all, Midway have done a very good job creating a dark, scary, disturbing and downright brilliant game. It's rated 18 for a reason and I could see this scaring the pants off of young children. Highly Recommend it. 8/10
Right. First things first, delete the entire last paragraph, and simply move the first paragraph down to the bottom so it is now the last. Add, "Highly recommended"
Add "Thanks for reading.
"Possum_Number2" To the end, and submit it.
Also, add a few more commas in at better points. One of them being after "Torque" on the first paragraph.
If you do this, it'd look so much better, and would probably win come to think of it.
Try it.
Also do me a favour and edit this original post so it has my ideas in. That way, I can still tell you how to improve it afterwards. Then submit it.
I got an email telling me my copy of the suffering has been dispatched.
Booyeah!
> BUT, I cannot take any more out at all as it's a masterpiece.
So where's this masterpiece you promised us?
