I've got my plot down on "paper", I've got some idea of what I'm actually going to type and I am sure that I can probably do a decent job. The thing is, the challenge is more difficult than it first appears. Yeah, some author has written the first part of the story for you but in order to finish it, you have to adopt the same style for the rest of the short. Not very easy. Plus I don't actually like the guy's style whose story I am finishing off. Shaun Hutson. But I do like the possibilities that the story has set up.

One thing is for certain, there is no way I'm going to finish a story involving shoes.

I take your point but when I watched the launch programme, the judges all mentioned how important it is to read the short story and "not see the join". I suppose the best way forward is altering the substance of the story and not the style. The Tunnel by Hutson, is perfect for this, as there has been no dialogue so far in the story. Giving Tate a "voice" and another character to talk too, will allow some scope for demonstrating my [limited] ability.

I'm going to post my effort the day after the compo closes, so this is something for you to all look forward too...

Maybe not.

it sounds good, but do you really have to adopt the same style? the film AI I believe was completed by two separate producers or directors (I forget which), they did half each.

Surely the idea would be to use your own style, and demonstrate your creative genius, you can't do that if you're trying to adopt someone elses style.

I'd just do it in your own way, chief. I may have a go at this myself, but I keep forgetting about it.
