Retiring from playing football at the ripe old age of 38, a man who has not only been a credit to Italian football but World Football.

He made his professional debut at a young age of 16 and took the world by storm, quite simply a genius on the ball and one of the best players/goal scorers I have ever seen.

Hopefully he continues to take part in the game at some level, im sure he's not short of offers.

Ahh yes the divine ponytail. I watched him in the USA94 final with that infamous penalty. It was he who got me interested in Italian footie. And they will no doubt win Euro 2004 coz they rule and france do the sucking

Milan won 4-2, was a decent game to watch Kaka was instrumental once again.

Baggio showed some of his skills and at 38 he's still a decent player.

I also heard about him getting a call up to Italian squad but for a friendly game as good gesture but not sure what happened about that.

He was one of the true Italian greats; many will miss him.

What was the final score in todays game?

I originaly thought he was supposed to have retired sometime last season...? Oh, well.

I guess he won't be getting that one-last-chance at the international scene with a surprise call-up into Italy's Euro 2004 squad he was hoping for, then, will he...

My one regret about this is that I never got to see him play enough times. :(
