I know this can be done, I think . But I want to be able to insert some code or something, so when a picture is moused over (see the links @ http://www.djdd.co.uk/skip) it will be recolored and vise versa.

How do I do this without using 2 pictures? There must be some way to do it? Javascript? I've searched but can find nothing.

If the link is an image, it is impossible to recolour it without just slapping another image on top.

Have a look at this: http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/

The links on that site can be done (correctly) as a list and styled using CSS. Don't go thinking your confined to just changing the background colour either on rollover as you can use images too using CSS and there's the bonus of needed no over bloated script to handle the effects.

I think im just gonna not bother with any rollovers, no point, and the site is already to bloated for 56kers.

Indeed, way over bloated, but woth CSS you could cut downon at least 60% of your code. CSS is 56k friendly, much friendlier than an over bloated, table/image based layout using markup which really should be used anymore.

I could reduce the HTML of that homepage to about 20-25 lines in total... Using pure CSS and correct xHTML structural mark up.
