If I were to purchase the new X800 and all, it'd last me for ages, yes? As in, it'd be able to handle practically any game thrown at it in the near future?

And the same question for the 9800 Pro, ta.
Cheers.

Super kikass edit: Would my computer specs need to be amazing to cope with it too?

If you get an X800 XT it will last you ages. It will defiitly be able to cope for 3 years and most likely 5.

The 9800XT is essentially an overclocked 9800 Pro and doesn't really have much headroom for further overclocking...

Nah the 9800 XT really doesn't need to be overclocked, my PC can run pretty much everything on top whack without needing to tweak my Graphics Card. I am waiting for PCI Express though I paid £350 for my 9800 XT amd although getting an X800 wouldn't be a problem I will wait for the new shiznits which will take over for a while to come.

Cheers. I think CM mentioned something about the XT version being best for overclocking or something.
I'm all very rubbish when it comes to overclocking.

It would last for a long time yeah, at least 2 years before you would have to run at anything other than absolute top settings I'd imagine.

As for the 9800 Pro, well it still handles pretty much everything you can throw at it. Farcry is the only thing that really pushes it at the moment. Plus it has the added benefit of being several hundred quid cheaper and it will work fine on pretty much any PC with an AGP slot.

The X800 will come in AGP flavours but to get the best from it you will possibly need to get a swish new motherboard with PCI-Express, which is the replacement for AGP. But that's 6 months away at the moment.

My vote on bang for buck is the 9800 Pro. Plus you can always overclock it a fair bit.

Well, the GeForce 3 was good enough for all the latest games in the 3 years I had it in service, so I reckon so.
