As some of you might know NTL are doing a big maintainence overhaul which is causing slow browsing or loss of broadband access all over the country.

Anyway yesterday I couldn't get on (due to maintainence) but the problem has been fixed now in Leeds. The internet works if you plug the network cable directly into the PC - but doesnt work if you put it into the router. (the light goes orange instead of green next to the cable)

Is this because as they're re-doing the system they dont have the resources to send me two new IP addresses - or something else?

Two new IP addresses? You only get one with the connection, the router just creates a 'sub-IP.'

It's probably something to do with your router if it works when you plug it into the PC.
