2001 is the year Sega held up their hands and said, “We are not making any money”. This was the year Nintendo’s old archrival died and became a 3rd party developer but was it for the better?

Many of you out there want desperately for Sega to come back into the hardware business but I think you should see SEGA becoming a 3rd party developer as quite possibly the greatest thing the industry has witnessed in a long time. Sure SEGA will now improve the standards of games making other developers to work harder at their games but Sega could well be the company that will join the two ends of the market together.

Internet gaming is becoming bigger and bigger with all three companies using the Internet to their advantage. Now if Sega are making games for Playstation, Nintendo and Microsoft could they create the same games for all three and make it possible for Playstation and Nintendo fans go head to head for the first time?

Your friend at school won’t admit that Playstation is the best well show him in a game of Virtual fighter or a deathmatch in house of the dead (lets hope there is one). “Take that you Playstation owning scum” is what you could be screaming as you blow off the head of your best friend.

Sega are not the only company who can do this soon we might be playing FIFA against each other or Tekken. If two computers with different specs can play games over the Internet against each other then it must be possible for Nintendo and Sony’s systems to do the same.

Here’s to the future

I've heard that Capcom are working on a game that GC, PS2, Xbox and PC owners can all play against each other online.

It can be done. It's already been done. DC owners can already take on the PC gamers with quake 3.

Looks like when that game's been made, Grix and myself will have some Ant quishing to do.

As for Sega, they're just another one of the first class third party develloper along with Capcom and Konami.

Sega have been diminishing on the hardware side recently, but their games are stll good. I think this is a great step esp. for Nintendo, my favourite developers
