The Playstation’s success was mainly because it attracted casual gamers who were happy to buy any console as long as it, and the games, were cheap. Now Sony is turning it’s back on the people who made it so popular in the first place and with stiff competition from the Dreamcast, the Dolphin and the X-Box. Sony doesn’t have the mass market all to themselves anymore and unless they realise that, soon then they’ll go the way of the N64 with overpriced hardware and a limited catalogue of games. I only hope Sony can get it’s act together before the PS2 is released.
->In Japan, the PS2 came with a free memory card. Over here it will not, and it'll cost £30ish!
->However, instead we get a space to put an internal hard drive! Only problem is that it'll cost loads, and if you don't buy one then you'll have a hole in the back of your PS2!
->Sony will also be releasing broad band modems! But not many people in the UK have faster-than-telelphone access, and it'll cost loads for the modem!
->Seeing as the PS2 costs about £450 to make, and sony makes a huge loss on each console (unlike Sega who only lose a few pounds), then don't expect a price drop soon!
