We always feel in a festive spirit sometimes in our life, weather its Christmas, Halloween or Easter. But do we actually feel this in our games and should we?

I can’t remember the last time a game was released which had something to do with the period it was released in. The only games I see released during a certain period is that of FIFA where games are released in time for the World Cup etc. But the world cup is not a time we all celebrate, events such as Christmas are. So why don’t games developers make games that have a plot to do with the time of year it is released?

If this did happen though we probably would see Santa’s everywhere in the gaming world around Christmas time and we would have bunny’s hopping everywhere around Easter. But if a developer did make a game for the time that it was meant to be released, would they put a feel in for the time that it is? Surely we would all have a better feel for the game if we were in the spirit.

But what I see, if this does happen, is that the games will become more childish then mature. After the so called ‘childish’ N64, gamers are after a more mature feel. Such a game showing this is Conkers Bad Fur Day, which really tried to gain a new audience.

But maybe, just maybe, sequels could be made better if they had a theme to them. What I mean here is that Conker could return again for Halloween and that would automatically put the theme as a spookier, horror movie. There you go, instant plot. All RARE would have to do then is build upon the game, like they do so well, adding great gameplay and even better humour, as this is Conker. The Conkster could then return in another sequel to do with another time of year. That would mean no same storylines with same boring old sequels and we have festive games!

I think if one developer does this it would be a great idea, but, however, if many developers do then it will get out of hand. You will see more Easter Eggs then in the factory that supply’s them.

But, if sequels to a game can be based around the idea, which is ‘festive’, then it could turn out great. The question is though, would we pack them away once the special day has gone?

lol, no a whole new games character or maybe Conker is a good example. You see, the humor has to carry on so why not set the sequels in festive worlds?

RE is a seroius game where as Conker is not. You see?

Oh, you mean if the next RE was released out in easter time, there should be bunnies jumping around, easter eggs on the floor, and maybe a picture or two with jesus Christ rising from the dead?

No, I was saying that it would be good if a games characters sequels were based around diffrent times of the year. The main character would be playing in a festive world.

I’m not sure about you, but at Christmas time I don’t want to be playing a game where the main character is an overweight, old man, with an overgrown beard and who wears a funny hat.
