Not according to Miyamoto (I saw a TV program about bideogames (It was on not long ago and some of you may have seen it))
He said that he called him Donkey Kong because he thought the word "Donkey" was ment to be considered as a funny word in English, but then after the game was released, although very popular, everyone was confused by the name!
Anyway as I said before, the answer to question 2 of my questionaire is correct! I haven't said that it was wrong at all!
You are a true fan.
> er er no they were not all rite
WHICH ONES WERE WRONG!!
Here is the story: 1982; Nintendo were lookign for a name for this Shigsy character, they knew he was a monkey but he was going to be a clumsy one, so they called his first name Donkey, as donkey's are known to be clumsy in Japan or something, his second name was because of the original beast King Kong, basically Nintendo thought more people would remember the name if they stuck a Kong on the end, Donkey Kong was created, and is a Clumsy Beast to all the Japanese.
The original gameboy was released on Japan in 1988, it was the original grey one with the much harder screen, to check if you have one of these rare GB's please look on the backs of your Gameboys and if it says 'Type A1' then you have somethinh worth a lot of money, but seeing as they were only released in Japan for 2 weeks I doubt it, then the re-release was made with the words 'Type B' on the plastic on the back, it was in the same year but '1989' was on the back of the GB this time? strange but true.
