Anyway there was a special feature on this scene on the DVD and it's a classic. Sigourney and Jenut(sp?) who is the director, had major discussions on how they were going to film the scene and more importantly, what they need to do to make it look like Ripley has just aced a shot in a million. Eventually they agreed to CGI the ball and thus all Sigourney needed to do was to start the motion of throwing the ball.
However, (yes I am getting to the point), she decided that she'd have a go at making the shot anyway on this first take. Ron Pearlman (Johnners)introduces the rush (the actual on stage footage) and it is a classic. You can see the three actors in shot, watching Sigouney, as she calmly walks away and casually makes the perfect shot first time. Within a milisecond of making the shot, two of the actors on screen looked genuinely amazed but one of them, in his on words "breaks character and goes from Johnners to Ron" and is instantly celebrating the achievement before realising he'd just "f****d up the take".
However the tight edit in the finished version of the filmaway cuts just before he starts a-hollering.
So there.
The underwater filming took four weeks and was a very arduous undertaking for the actors. As the actors couldn't wear face masks in shot, they were effectively blind and were reliant on their diver buddy to grab them at the end of the take and shove the mouthpiece to the air tank into their grateful gobs. Winnona Ryder was particularly impressive as she almost drowned as a teenager and thus was less than enthusiastic. But she did the scenes anyway as the couldn't use a body double.
However she did mention at one point that she was "always trying to steal things from the set to take as souvenirs", which produced a wry smile...
> Seriously?
Doubt it. They had to make cuts due to a lower than expected budget. Why spend cash on a scene that has nothing to do with the plot. :)

Nope.
There is however a deleted scene where a camouflaged Predator is stalking one of the Aliens.
From IMDB. I tend to belive whats said on the commentary. In this trivia spot, she's done the shot a number of times.
Is there a deleted scene of her going one-on-one in the loader-bot thing with the dude from Delicatessen? There should be.
