I don't know why, but Over the next few months i'll be posting numerous chapters of a very long story. Its based around syndicate and syndicate wars the game. So anyone with the slightest idea on these games might understand a little about the story.

Prologue: The new order

Change is inevitable. Change is constant. Benjamin Disraeli

Finally, after some 5 years of savage brutal fighting throughout the 5 continents the syndicate wars had finally come to a conclusive bloody end to what had been a power struggle for the world run by greed, ambition and most importantly power. Arthur Branding had done it. HIS company had done it. The world was rightfully theirs now and no one could deny them their prize. They now controlled absolutely everything, from how the world was to be run to dictating what each individual role and future was. Arthur Branding felt like a god as he stared at the broken landscape of what was the complex surface of the Atlantic accelerator oilrig turned underwater research centre. Fires burned throughout the early morning growing ever higher, hungrier for more flammable material and air like a destroyer of worlds. Smaller balls of flame exploded to life unpredictably from the burning bullet ridden buildings illuminating the dozens of corpses of Arthur Branding’s rival syndicate agents as well as his own agents who lay silently lying twisted and lifeless in positions that seemed like art sculptures. His agent’s sacrifices had not been in vain. But Arthur Branding had no time to pray and cry over the dead. No, that duty was left for after his company, Eurocorp, had a guaranteed firm grip on the world. In theory they owned the world, but rumours of an American revolt had already broken out and needed to be crushed immediately. Arthur Branding was certain that it could be crushed down in days, after all, he’s done the gargantuan job of taking the world, what would a small continent delaying the inevitable do to what has already been set in motion? What could they do to a fully developed war machine when they themselves were weak, rag tag, broken, scattered and merely remnants of former enemies united because of recent circumstances? Had they not had enough of the damage, destruction and might of those who have crushed numerous Syndicates? There was only one outcome to that revolt and Arthur and maybe some of the more cynical of the revolt knew and how painful it got was up to the rebels. Arthur smiled at this opportunity to make an example that would keep the rest of the world in line till their expansions of the CHIP would seal the people’s fate.

He reflected on the whole 5 years of the syndicate wars and how much they had grown and evolved as he waited for back up to secure the Atlantic accelerator properly. The survivors of the fight simply weren’t enough to protect it for long. He Reminisced how the collapse of Government control and the creation of the mind controlling device the CHIP, had given birth to a small time CHIP producer with big ambitions called Eurocorp to take part, despite the advantage everyone else had, in the Syndicate wars. Branding had to adapt with Crude technology compared to other syndicates. His workers from the factory production line acted as Agents and armed only with pistols had slowly carved out a new future through violence, robbery, assassinations and “good intentions”.

Taking over Western Europe and becoming the dominate power of Europe had little affect on the current world and few turned their attention in the direction of ensuing chaos that soon gave birth to a new syndicate that was to emerge. But that soon changed. Day after day, Arthur Branding and his company grew richer and richer, unquestionable loyalty increased and Agent recruit number swelled in size, each one emerging as war machines with the latest equipment and sporting the latest modifications unlike any other syndicate had seen. Eurocorp’s Empire had spread from Europe, to the Far East and to the Americas like a killer plague and with each rapid expansion, his desire and lust for more and more money, power and fame grew in him. It was like a drug to him, except unlike drugs it never poisoned him with dizzying success. However much anyone tried, it became impossible for anyone to ignore the growing syndicate. It stunned the world and alarmed the largest syndicates as a result. People soon began begging answers to everyone’s favourite question: How could a small factory owner and his workers become one of the most powerful syndicates and have the real possibility of becoming the dominate syndicate in such an uncontestable time in history? Was it fate? Was it luck? or was it because Arthur Branding’s Eurocorp was just that damn good?

Arthur branding had destroyed various syndicates each one unique to each other with their own skills and talents and shared the common trait of being just as vicious as the last syndicate that came before them. Ranging from the Technologically powerful TAO oriental syndicate in the Far East, to the expertly skilled IIA (Independent Intelligence Agency) that had spawned off from the CIA in America. Arthur Branding’s company took each of the syndicates one by one, plucking each one of the syndicates out of existence and into extinction. But when his rivals merged together into a single syndicate, combining all their advantages and resources together into one devastatingly powerful collective war machine, they began to dispute over the final territory -the Atlantic accelerator. It was to be a trial of fire for the successful Eurocorp syndicate. Despite the objections from his advisors and the odds stacked in favour against Arthur Branding, he under took the challenge set against him regardless. With a hail of bullets and bloodshed he’d won. Stunning the world and all those who still doubted him once again. And here he was now, waiting for his back up...waiting....

The humming sound of a dropship had distracted Arthur branding enough for him to look up and peer at the skyline of the sea. He noticed the bright orange sunset filtering the sea with its brilliant rays and the oilrig itself. But the best part of the moment was the arrival of the dropship that he requested to secure the site. The dropship began making its decent onto the helipad next to Branding’s own dropship and slowly the hydraulic legs of the newly arrived dropship hissed open and made its decent down to touch the helipad service. The power of the Dropships exhausts and fans began to blow hot air over the world around it, putting out smaller fires and making empty bullet shells and casings to plunge off the side of the Atlantic accelerator and sinking to the bottomless sea. Once the several ton machine landed with its important resources, the rear ramp agonisingly slowly hissed open. Branding grew impatient and anxious to see his friend and his back up. He knew that they were in there and all was well, but he wanted to be sure that this was all true and put his mind at rest from the struggle. His mind needed confirmation that it really was over.
But Arthur branding didn’t wait long as even before the ramp fully touched the ground, Eurocorp agents and guards armed with a wide variety of equipment ranging from Miniguns, sniper rifles, Gauss rocket launchers and pulse lasers spewed out of the ship and ran in what seemed like random directions. Snipers and heavy weapons took up positions on the highest points of the Atlantic accelerator whilst others took up to guarding junction points and bridges.
Finally the man Branding was waiting for came to view and with several emotionless agents accompanying him. It was vice managing executive and best friend Carl Broker, clutched in his hands was a bottle of champagne and champagne glasses.

“Well, Branding, we’ve finally done it. The worlds actually ours!”
“Well, it’s been ours for the last 30 minutes. But from here on, things will be much easier and I can guarantee that our company, our legacy, our life’s work, will stand for centuries to come. No one would ever mock or forget the name Eurocorp”
“ Indeed, but whilst we may have taken the surface, what of the scientists in the underwater research centre?”
“Don’t worry friend, the scientists were more than welcomed to join our side. Of course, a little “persuasion” was needed but now that they have pledged their allegiance to our might.” Speaking of which, I’ll have to find a way to thank the very people who could make this possible, the agents i sent down to lay down their lives to clean out this now burnt out, blackened dump. Arthur branding thought.
“Amen to them. Champagne oh great master?” Broker jokingly said
“Yes please, but from now on Champagne’s going to be only water to this “master””

Broker grinned and poured out a glass of champagne and handed it over to Arthur Branding whilst he unceremoniously drank from the champagne bottle. Broker couldn’t careless and nor could Branding, for manners for such an important occasion and moment in history, as the champagne was only the icing to sweet success.

For the first time to what seemed like centuries, Branding could laugh and relax. For his conscience mind, the syndicate war was officially over.

i'm sure he meant more better detail and graphics for the new syndicate game. But than most of the new games have that stuff. Syndicate had that. You shot anyone you wanted and they would bleed alot. Syndicate wars you can still shoot at the corpses and they would react to the bullets.

the original syndicate on amiga and pc was bloody superb.

I got the 'american revolt' data disc too which was one of the hardest games I've ever played.

they should bring it kicking and screaming into the new millenium, with uprated graphics, extra violence, more guns, a touch more violence, perhaps some swearing, people lying limbless on the floor etc.

good clean family fun.
