So the most senior policeman in Britain is off on a jolly to France, at out expense, to check out a tunnel and the Ritz. Apparently it'll help him get a clearer picture of what happened. Here's my version of events: a car hit a wall really, really fast, and all the soft humans inside had their brains splurt out onto the interior (except the one that survived). Surely his "expertise" would be better off fighting real crime?

What, you mean that odd kinda musky smell? That's a mixture of smugness at making the effort to see beyond the headlines that we're spoon fed, coupled with fear at what one sees when one does look beyond. I swear, I wish I was ignorant and stupid like Bell or Gump; they seem much happier generally in their ignorance.

Your world has a funny smell that you're probably used to by now.

Heh. Intense paranoia caused by greater awareness that much of our supposedly enjoyable western lifestyle is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to distract us from the virtual slavery we live in? Welcome to my world!

I tell ya, this country is going downhill. I never used to be so politically aware until I started reading the news every day. Now that I can get on the Internet more often, that's up to reading the news every hour or so, so I see more stories than I used to. And the general feel is that we're getting screwed over. The people in power get richer, whilst we toil away in the public sector. The only system I see working is the one that keeps us from actually having a choice.
