The Simpsons movie has apparantly been under progress for quite a while now. As yet there has been no word or information leaked about it at all. Everyone knows that The Simpsons are the longest running and one of the most successfull animations ever, but also the new episodes are becoming a bit stale. Do you think the movie will be any good??
I mean to think about it there cant be many more ideas to implement that havent been done already. I believe The Simpsons may have had their day - Its been a long while since we last saw a truly hilarious episode, there was a time where every episode shown was like this!! Unfortunate as it is the ideas a running a bit thin and the current series is lacking the cutting edge that made it as successfull as it is.
What do you think??

aye... Futurama is MUCH sharper than current Simpsons...

Although I find since its much more plot-driven that it doesnt have the same rewatch value?

Futurma is brilliant and probably one of the most underated shows! Bender is very good yes!

About the film I don't think it should be made it could backfire but I will probably go see it anyway!

This is purely specualtion... but...

I got the impression a few years ago that Matt Groeing was getting a little tired of working on the Simpsons, and that he pretty much wanted to drop the whole cartoon and move onto new projects...

Equally, over the past few years, the Simpsons has lost its hand polished feel, to a much more corporate, mass market feel, Simpsons by numbers affair... especially given the number of episides that dont really have a decent storyline, and that just fall apart at the end of the episode...

HHhhrrrmm, whenever an animation is later made into a film it can either make or break the animation. The Simpsons has never needed to be made into a film because it seemed to remain as fresh and funny as when it was first established. The Simpsons could have made a film at anytime but there was always the possibilty that the film could have killed off the show. Now the show seems to have lost that ageless feel to it and is perhaps requiring a film to boost popularity again (however it could just be a way of trying to make money from a "sinking ship"). The fact that Futurama was made signalled that Matt Groening was neeeding to get away from the Simpsons. I think that if a film is made it will make a good profit even if it isn't great. However I believe the Simpsons is a classic and I hope that if they do make a film then they try to make it every bit as good (even better)as the show is.

I heard my self that they would never do a film! But if this was true, they would do something mazeining like kill off someone (or like rugrats) make somthing which will be in later episodes.

good point mattyboy but I think they will do what many other cartoons do and they go on vacation for a very small amount of time in the film. On the vacation they will meet some evil stuff and so on.

BTW The Simpsons arcade game is great that was when it was at its best.
