Current Nokia's are pretty poor. They just seem to be loosing [Edit - I must be more ill than I thought. losing] their touch, the screens are not so good, the designs are weird, the battery life is lacking.
6100.. if I remember rightly it had a dynamic memory, so it was shared between texts, media messages and phone numbers. And whatever you downloaded.
Best phones around at the moment are Samsungs and Ericssons. Also, the O2 X1 thingy (flip phone that looks kind of Samsungish) is really decent as well.
Don't touch 3 with a bargepole. Not worth it for another year or so.

I've had a 6100 for nearly a year and I've gotta say it's pretty average. The screen's nothing special - it's not bad but I've seen better.
If you have a lot of stuff in the memory, e.g. appointments in the calendar, then it's slows the phone down quite noticeably.
Saying all that, though, it has been reliable - no problems at all.
