We all know the current state of the games industry. Sony are absolutely dominating which is an unfortunate situation. Other platforms such as Dreamcast, N64 and even PC try to become the focus of the gaming public but they fail in the wake of Sony's 'Sequel Machine TM' which produces piles of old rehashes, and the public buy them.

Hopefully, the year 2002 will see an end to Sony's reign so everyone can get back to playing endless Triple-A titles like we could in the days of the Mega Drive and SNES. And I do see this happening, just like this.........

It's Christmas 2001 and Sony are once again over-hyping their PS2 console. The PSOne is STILL around and selling too. Meanwhile, Nintendo have released the Gamecube to a favourable crowd. However, sales aren't up to scratch as the PS2 is continuing to sell by the bucket-load for no particular reason at all. People are still transfixed with Sony produce and once again, Nintendo have failed to rid people of their Sony branded brain-washing. This is a crying shame and people are beginning to realise that Sony are monopolising the games industry.

The Hardcore gaming community continues to dwindle down to extinction as more and more people are buying PS2s. The stronger of the Otaku have bought Gamecubes and continue to play with their Dreamcasts and PCs which, as ever, are produces heaps of quality games. Dreamcast stocks have almost depleted as sales have skyrocketed following a further price cut to £75. The 2001 releases have all lived up to expectations on the Dreamcast and PC with Black & White selling a million copies and Sega's Headhunter turning out to be the premier 'sneak-em-up' title with critics rating it above Metal Gear Solid 2. Other titles such as Unreal 2 and Half-Life 2 have been released on PC to great acclaim with people naming them as the best games ever.

The gaming community is in suspence at the dawn of 2002 with the Xbox release just weeks away and Shenmue 2 preparing to wow the Sega fans just like the original did in December 2000. Microsoft have begun their extensive marketing campaign for the Xbox and people are interested, particularly die-hard gamers. PC and Dreamcast gamers in particular are preparing to spend their cash on the big 'X' and the first reviews of the launch titles are coming in. Munch's Odysee, Project Gotham and various other titles are getting rave reviews in the US wetting the appetite of gamers even more on the other side of the pond.

Finally, the Xbox is released and it sells. Microsoft have priced the console competitively and people are attracted by its glossy GeForce 3 powered visuals and excellent selection of games. Even some casual gamers have been drawn in by the Xbox after seeing FIFA 2002 running in near photo-realistic fashion. After this surge of Xbox sales, the Gamecube begins to take off again with people becoming interested after experiencing the delights of hardcore gaming.

PS2 sales now sink like the Titanic and although it doesn't die off, the pole position Sony have held or so long is finally taken from them.

And during all of this, Sega are stood watching over the gaming industry, planning the moment to attack. And held in Sega's hands is the new super console that will take over the world. Just you wait and see........

No major predictions please....you can only give a vague prediction...you can't say exactly what's going to happen!

So don't assume that Sony are gonna stay near the top! They weren't the best last year and cos of the GBA they probably wont be this year!

We should not estimate what is to happen in the world that is gaming.

It can get our hopes up and let us down. The future is there not to be seen, so lets see what happens and enjoy the entertainment that is gaming.
