I watched the film last night and I thought that it was really good. Some parts lost me though but in all I thought it was a good film. On the otherhand I believe that many people tried to 'over sell' it though because they made it sound like it was the best film ever made. Unfortunately I dont think that it was good enough to be the best film.

If you dont like boys dancing around, then I'd advise you not to watch this film. The film is about a boxer turned ballerina! Billy Elliot (Jamie Bell) goes to the local boxing club. This one particular day, the ballet class needed to share the hall where Billy was boxing. He see's the young girls dancing and is fascinated by them. He decides to give it a go and before long he is better than all the girls! His dancing sets his mind free and makes him feel like electricity! His ballet teacher (Julie Walters) thinks that he is good enough to get into the Royal School of Ballet in London.

When his father finds out that his son has been going to ballet instead of boxing he goes mad. He doesn't want his son to be a 'nancy boy'! He changes his mind though when he see's Billy dance.

The rest of the film is about the troubles that he has to face in ballet and in life in general.

I think that most people will enjoy this film if they liked The Full Monty and East is East. A brilliant soundtrack accompanies the film with songs from T-Rex and some other great artists.

The only thing that got me is whether he is really a dancer or just an actor. He seemed to be very good at tap but not as good in ballet! Even so, he played the part tremendously.

Was it just me or were his ears really transparent? Who knows?
