Back at the times of the NES and master system most games were platform/ shooting games, eg alex the kid! These games were fun, addictive and usually quite long which really set off the gaming world all together. most were were games where you had a 2-d or slightly early 3-d graphics used to make quite cool scenery like a hill or cave etc.
There is a game on the master system called global gladiators which is a macdonalds game and is a typical addictive fun game.
nowadays would you rather play your n64 or mega drive, well personally i would play the mega drive because the atmostsphere is fun and cheerful where as some new games are really good and addictive but not all that fun.

I love platform games! they are my favourite type! I wish magazines would stick to the original names of the types though! It gets confusing when about 5 years ago (and earlier than that) they were called platform games, now they are called side-scrollers...

Anyway back to the point...

The first ever platform game I played was Mario Bros on the NES. It wasn't my NES, but one of my best friends, and I used to go over his house as much as possible to play it (NES was my first console I ever played so that's probably why I'm such a big Nintendo fan)

I even encouraged my brother to get a SNES instead of an N64 around 3/4 years ago so that he'd get Super Mario Allstars with all the Mario platform games (apart from Mario World 2 which he bought seperately). I'm glad he did cos I had months of fun playing all 4 games (and lost levels). Then he bought Zelda 3 which is my alltime favourite game!

The latest consoles don't really have any classic style platform games any more so I'm gonna get the most popular Japanese console, the Gameboy Advance, which has got quite a few already made for it!

The other day I played Super Smash Bros, which my friend has, and I played on the Mario Bros level. My first thought was, "Wouldn't it be great if there was a classic style Mario Bros platformer with these graphics!"

I know I'd get it, and so would a lot of classic gamers!

Anyway, Platform games rule!
