The road outside my house, in front of my front garden, is closed so that road repairs and BT lines can be sorted. This is an inconvenient but perfectly reasonable 10 days of work. So. The road is closed, diversions signed either end, a good few miles down the road either way. Somehow the fact roadworks are being done is ignored - and yet people complain when they aren't done...... ?
Yet, cars still come up here, drive through as far as possible, get angry and turn around. There is an old railway track behind my house - dusty until it goes muddy and practically impassable except by tractor and bike. Yet that doesn't stop other cars driving at 60mph down it (through our residential parking area, may I add) and then getting stuck, turning around and shouting at each other. Utter, utter mongs. Idiots of the highest order.
So, this pig-headed stupidity. I was reading an article from The Week, which featured an article by the German ambassador to London's brother, which was originally in Der Spiegel. It comments on how Britain has an epidemic of drunkeness, and brilliantly - 'junk-food chomping charity shop mums' that 'leech' off the state. It basically deplores much of the current state of Britain. A similar article displays similar disgust at many aspects - maninly coarse behaviour and a general lack of concern for institutions..etc. Right next to this is an article about the BNP - which got my blood boiling, simply because of the subject matter, but it also got me thinking, and I'm sure it's been said many times before - as the Der Spiegel article states; 'the tabloids have worked them all up into such a frenzy about immigrants coming over to share this paradise' - a slight over simplification I think, but I see it's point. Like I said, I'm sure I've seen other users state this, but since when were immigrants more of a problem than many of the 'true patriots' of Britain are?
I'm sickened by many things my fellow countrymen/women do/think. I take, Faliraki. Hordes of people my age and a little older descend for a 'good time'. I have no problem with that. Just they also wreck the place. I agree that is also an over simplification, but you must see my point? The BNP - hates foreigners etc - what kind of ignorance and hatred can be directed at foreigners, and yet Britain as a collective mass seems to be rather unperturbed by what its own citizens do to the 'nation'. I guess this ramble is just saying - the 'junk-food-chomping charity shop mums' and drunks are far more of a problem than some poor people trying to live better lives in a better country. Most of the time anyway...
Well, I said it was a silly ramble.
