Taken from E3:

"id Software and Activision confirmed this morning that id Software's DOOM 3 is in fact coming to the Xbox and that the demo of the PC version would be on display at Activision's booth (booth #1224 in the South Hall) beginning May 14th. Built using id Software's new cutting-edge 3D graphics engine, DOOM 3 draws players into a terrifying and riveting 3D gaming. A specific release date for id's horror filled first-person shooter was not disclosed at press time but one can imagine that it will be released when it's done. Look to GameSpy for more information on both versions from the show floor later this week!"

This was announced THIS morning and it will be an Xbox exclusive title. Won't come close to Halo 2 but I am VERY excited about seeing more about this game over the coming months. On top of this new screens of Deus EX 2 have been shown so if Mav is reading this then go to:

On top of this Counter Strike is shaping up to be as good as the PC version and for the E3 previews I have read they were VERY impressed with how it has shaped up. Then there are some new Project Gotham Racing 2 screens at:

Its shaping up to be graphically revolutionary and if the gameplay stays the same as the first then this will be something of Halo 2 proportions (perhaps not that big).

What does everyone think of whats on offer?

Better on PC? This isn't the PS2. Every ported PC game that has gone to Xbox that I have played has been better on the Xbox. Why would I want to fork out for a PC which will have a version worse than the Xbox version? The current Doom 3 build is looking sharper on the Xbox than on PC. Along with the fact that I can play them on a 32" TV with a 5.1 Surround Sound system, rumble effect from the pad and from the comfort of my own sofa. There is no competition between Xbox and PC games because the Xbox wins hands down every single time for me. I do prefer the Pad and I don't have to worry about random errors, upgrading or even online play with the PC because the Xbox does it all without any trouble. If you want them on PC then you get them on PC because I know with the Xbox version I will have the best verisonof the games.

I find that the mouse is suited best to strategy titles. Max Payne and Winback, although thirdperson, were excellent when played with controllers. I have Oni (also thrid person) on the PC, and would rather have played it with a controller as the keyboard and mouse controls were very awkward.

No way, especialy with 3rd person shooters.

The mouse adds so much precision.

Although if the games good, the configaration to pad should be excellent.

As an FPS fan I have to say I find FPS play greatly enhanced by a controller as opposed to mouse and keyboard. I think half life is great but i want to play it with a controller.

You'd go to a PC, because bar PD and Halo 2 you can get them all, and better. And you can enjoy online playing with a much larger audience, and it doesn't cost you a penny.

They have much less gore and guns, and more stealthy, Resi style monsters -scary rather than mobbing you with fireballs.

Classic Doom 2 scene- Open space, BFG 9000, 30-ish Imps.

Tap Ctrl.

Ouch.

If you look through the FPS games due out on the Xbox within the next 15 months you wonder why any FPS fan would go anywhere else. Over the next 15 months the following FPS games will be released on the Xbox:

Operation Flashpoint + All Expansions
Deus EX 2: Invisible War
Thief 3
Halo 2
Doom 3
Half Life 2
Perfect Dark 2
XIII
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Island Thunder
Rainbow Six: Raven Shield
SWAT 4: Urban Justice
Serious Sam 2
Red Faction 2

On top of that there is also Brute Force and Max Payne 2 to look forward to in the Shooting genre :)

The footage was from the PC version but they said the Xbox version was shaping up "sharper" than the PC version. The game looks absolutley amazing.
