So Who can say that they are the same on the internet as they are in real life?
Or
Do you act differently on the internet to escape the person you are in real life or just cos you can get away with been different because no one will know any different?

Me too I tend to read my messages through before posting them which enables me to get my point across a lot better than talking face to face which probably means that I come across differently online than in real life.
I think I do come across perhaps as more confident online than I do face to face, but I don't really think it's because I want to escape the person I am or want to pretend I'm someone I'm not.
When posting, emailing or messaging, I think it's easier to take the time and think what you are going to say or how you reply to something. You have time to choose your words carefully and make sure you cover all the points of the discussion.
Plus because you can say your piece without being interrupted by others, as you might in real life ... you can give your entire opinion on something in a single post, and if people respect you and want to hear what you have to say ... they'll read it all.
It's just a different form of communication I guess, sometimes I think I'm a better communicator online than I am in real life ... but then as I always say ... there's no emotion in text or the written word ...
