First come, first serve basis.
Ralf Schumacher has won his home race after a stunning drive and benefitting from retirements in front of him. It didn't look possible with 4 laps remaining. Heidfeld had a good lead but that was closed down really quickly and with 2 laps remaining, Ralf Schumacher passed Heidfeld and stormed home in the wet conditions.
In the race for the championship, Villeneuve looked like walking away with this race. Villeneuve took an early lead but was forced to retire with a water leak on lap 17. Frentzen could not benefit and could only manage 8th. Panis managed 4th and is now sharing 2nd in the championship with team mate Frentzen. Ralf Schumacher is now only 10 points behind Villeneuve in 4th.
The conditions caught out many drivers. These included Webber, Yoong, Barrichello, Frentzen, Sato, Button, Raikkonen, Irvine, De La Rosa, Bernoldi, Fisichella, M Schumacher and Massa.
There was also a few retirements. Yoong was first to retire on lap 12 when his engine blew. Villeneuve went out on lap 17 with a water leak. Salo went out on lap 23 with a suspension failure. Irvine also went out on lap 23 with an engine fire. Coulthard retired from the lead on lap 36 with an engine fire and Bernoldi retired on lap 39 with a suspension failure.
Ralf Schumacher kept his car on the track and won the race. Heidfeld was only 2 laps away from winning but did finish 2nd. De La Rosa continues his good run of results with a 3rd place finish. Panis, Trulli and Barrichello rounded out the top 6.

5 rounds to go. What does the next race have in store for us?
Jenson Button takes his second pole position in a row with a very late time. It seemed at on point that Minardi were going to make it a 1-2.
Minardi were out early when the track was still partially dry and set good times which the others found hard to beat when the rain came. The rain eventually stopped and Jenson Button was the last to cross the line and set the fastest time.
In the race for the championship, Villeneuve took another step closer with 3rd place on the grid. Frentzen, only 2 points behind, could only manage 12th and Panis, 5 points behind Villeneuve, got a lowly 15th.

Time is running out. Will a new contender emerge?
Jacques Villeneuve took a convincing win in Britain to take top spot in the race for the World Championship. Panis came an unlikely 2nd to complete the full house for BAR. Frentzen took 3rd but it wasn't enough to keep top spot.
It was a difficult race with the conditions starting wet but consistantly changing dry and wet throughout. Salo found it extremely difficult spinning 3 times. Bernoldi, Barrichello and a few others lost places due to the tricky conditions.
It was 27 laps before the first car retired. Sato went out with an oil leak and fire. Minardi's problems continued with Webber retiring on lap 32 with an engine problem. 2 laps later, Ralf Schumacher retired from second place with a rear suspension failure.
The top 3 drivers in the championship took the top 3 places. Villeneuve took first, Panis second and Frentzen third. Raikkonen, Button and De La Rosa rounded out the top 6.
