....And I still feel the same as I did when I was 17 - only richer! :)

In terms of presents, I couldn't have been happier!

I took the day off School (who wouldn't on their Birthday!!) and woke-up to find over £500 in cash and cheques within all those cards I had piled-up on the table (I have a huge familly you see - several second-marriages and uncles and aunites I've never met before)! :D
But that wasn't the best part... I opened a small box to find a set of car keys (OH YES!!), and I was taken outside to be told that the silver Ford Escort that had appeared on our drive while I was at work over the weekend was actually MINE - and I'd never suspected a thing!! :D

Don't ask me what size engine it has, or which model it is, precisely, as I'm no Tim Taylor when it comes to cars! All I know is that it's 8-years-old; I'm only the second person to have owned it; my mum got it "dirt-cheap" of the same guy who got her 'Focus cheap; it has a sun-roof; and... it's silver.
I'm gonna have to pay for the Insurance, though, which costs £900-a-year, under my dad's name (would've been £1,500 with myself as the main holder).

Only problem is that I can't drive it yet! :(
I've got the L-plates; I'm still learning to drive; but we're waiting for this form to come through so it can be taxed and insured.
I love it, though! :D
(And I laugh at people like phi11ip who can drive, but don't have their own cars! ;D )

What else did I get?
A little bobbled-head of Mario to go in the rear window...
The Office: Series 1 on DVD - FINALLY!
2 CD's - QotSA's `Songs for the Deaf` (which I'm listening to now), and American Hi-Fi's new album: `The Art of Losing` (which I also like).
And that's about it! None of that cheap, useless cack that I have no space for, either (PHEW!)!

Why did I not go to School yesterday?
Well, I woke-up feeling awful - like you would after clycling home from work on Sunday, knackered, only to find a surprise party awaiting you at home. Although, I didn't really drink too much (I'm not one for getting totally drunk, you see - I don't see the point!). It was just having my hyperactive little 8-year-old nephew running around; on spoon-fulls of sugar, with his high-pitched voice... That's what really killed me!

But I enjoyed it - especially as I missed another day of School! :)
But I shouldn't gone in with coursework due in for 4-weeks-time...

I'm gonna book myself a Theory Test for next-month, and try and get myself a full-license before the end of May! Nothing's gonna stop me, now!!

I passed my driving test in January and currently share a car with my sister (she is away at uni at the moment so its all mine), only problem is it’s a pathetic little Nissan Micra. It has the raw throbbing power of one of those battery-powered fans little girls seem to use in the summer.

What are you looking to spend your cash on?

Its my birthday in 3 weeks, I’m going to get a SP.

I'm looking to pick up a GBA SP within about 5-weeks-time, with a game-or-two. But that should only come to around £150. And seeing as there are hardly any CD's or DVD's I'm desperately after, most of this is going straight into the bank. I'll need some of it for the car insurance.

If I had a better PC, I'd get Championship Manager 4 - just like that!

But my PC struggles enough as it is, and can barely run any of the older CM games anymore. :(

Do you know if CM4's coming out on the X-Box? That'd be easier for me (when I eventually by one of those great things, later in the year, maybe).

Oh, and thr car I've got is apparently a "limited edition" model, of which only so-many were ever made. And to unlock it, you have to use the key in the passenger's side. But you can lock it from the driver's...
Anyway, my dad said he'll get it sorted, soon.

And does anyone know if those things Argos sell are any good?
What I mean are thoe cassette-type things that go into your cassette slot, in your car, connected up to your MD/CD player, allowing you to listen to CD's or MiniDiscs, in your car. Anybody?

Sorry to pee on your cornflakes, but insuring your car under your parents name is dodgy. If the insurers find out you drive the car more than they do they'll void your insurance. You are more likely to get away with it if your parents share a car, as you can say he uses yours when his other is unavailable, but if your folks have 2 cars it can look suspicious. More so if they are all insured by the same company.

Another warning, if you have an accident on his policy and it's your fault, your dad will lose his no claims.

Bring your insurance down by taking the Pass-Plus test (ask your driving instructor), as you'll get a 5% discount from that, and then get some decent security, like a cat 1 alarm fitted to the car (they start around £170).

Yeah, I'm intending to do the Pass Plus thing once I've got throgh the other tests. Do you have to be tested on that aswell? Or do you just get to drive in different conditions, and he tells you when he think you've done enough.

And I think it was a 20%, and not just 5%?
We think that the driver's door doesn't unlock because it looks like someone's already tried to break-in, so I might well go for the alarm.
Although, I live right by Bristol Airport, so it's likely that alarm would be going-off every now-and-again when a plane flies-by (like it used to when my dad had his).

And we do only have one car, really. My mum has the 'Focus, and my dad has a big Transit Van that he uses mainly for work.
Would that help me out, at all?

CM4 hasnt been confirmed for the Xbox just yet, but they had two versions of CM3 on there so its probably on the way soon. Just as soon as they get the million and one bugs there is out of it...

I'll get it for sure when it comes out on the Xbox though, as the PC version can be rather annoying even with a half decent PC. Mines a athlon xp1800+ with 512MB ram.

Nice one on getting a car. Seems a bit expensive on insurance being on your dads name as well though? It only cost around £600 for me to get insured on my dads 1.8 vectra when i was 18 and only £400 on a Corsa. I suppose you aint got a license though....

Yeh, i used to have one before i got a Cd player fitted. i'd never go back to it, but they are pretty good if you have no other option. Sound quality aint too bad either.
