From all the hype and blurb released so far, it seems the big changes this year include an update to the passing system, making it more 'skill based', improved player personality and goalkeeping plus the option to turn on handballs.
If the handball option is done properly it could turn out to be a great addition.
Although, personally I wont be buying this straight off as Football Manager is due to be released around the same, along with the WoW expansion.

Heh, I changed the commentary on my Fifa 09 to Dutch and I can't say I've heard them overuse many phrases, although that could be down to the fact that I don't speak Dutch.
You should learn, it can't be that difficult if Steve McClaren did it...
Game looks much more real, animations are more fluid which makes the game feel much better. Celebrations seem a bit odd, every goal is celebrated like its the last minute goal in the world cup...
I hope hey improve penalties in future and don't stick with this new system, seems a bit too complicated for just a penalty.
Started playing online ranked games tonight, just finished the last one i'm playing tonight:
Manchester City 4 - 1 Manchester United (AET)
45' - Rooney
71' - Dzeko (it's goals like this when I wish I was in control of my EA online account ¬_¬)
97' - David Silva (pen)
102' - Dzeko
120' - Wright Phillips
and to top it off
108' - Rooney Inj. :P
I'll be honest, it was not by any stretch of the imagination a 4-1 game, but, still...felt good haha
Played three matches, same teams, same times, different difficulties:
Manchester City 4 - 1 Macclesfield (World Class)
Manchester City 4 - 0 Macclesfield (Semi-Pro)
Manchester City 7 - 0 Macclesfield (Legendary)
The difficulty I found hardest to actually break down in the end was Semi-Pro. The lack of defensive aggression actually meant it was difficult for me to work around them, and it wasn't until the second half when I broke them down.
Legendary...they just broke apart, I managed to score 5 with my Virtual Pro, including a first ever free-kick goal.
Not sure whether it's to do with a certain amount of arrogance or complacency or whatever playing against lower difficulties but it does not seem to ever go well.
I always play a new FIFA on semi when I first get it (as I've normally taken a break). After a few games I get back in and up it to pro.
I find legendary (on the odd occasion I play on it) to be easier ( or on par) with pro in some cases. Most of my goals come from breaking down the wings, and they just don't seem to like moving from almost wing sweepers on the less than high difficulties.
EDIT: In regards to online play, I hate rage-quitters

What I was unaware of, is that whilst this is not part of the play, and so is not disciplinable, injuries can still occur. As such, in the match I'm currently playing, Scholes had to be taken off injured due to a rousing tackle by David Silva after the half time whistle.
What was even more amusing was that after the substitution, at the end of the first passage of play, Scholes was shown on the floor, injured and unable to continue...despite having already been taken off :P
