Final Fantasy 11: The first 10 got a reputation for great plots and characters. if its online then will it suck all the fun out of the story?

I got FFx on import. I won't brag, but it's great. there is a demo of FFXl with it. i have spent days on the deo, and there IS a single player game with story and all, but the online wasn't there. No one would be on anyway, except some Japanese nutters
And we wont for about 7 months
