Due to the death of a boy by a killer who was influenced by Manhunt, Manhunt has now been taken off of the shelves.

Your views??

As never playing the game i would like details of the actual gameplay if anyone can be bothered to get of their dimples to tell me

All in all, Manhunt should not be banned.

This has actually happened. Two boys in America played Vice City then stole their Dads shotgun and started shooting at cars on the highway. They were jailed and the parents tried to get it banned. Thankfully for us local gangs put death threats against them that if they "got their game banned" they would kill them. Scary stuff...

So basically what you are saying is that the ratings are guidelines not laws?

Bullshizat.
It's not against the law to buy a game if you're underage. There is a voluntary code within the retailers.
If I were to buy an 18 rated game, I'm not breaking the law.

The ratings are independent, and not legal.
Sheesh.

I agree. I bought Hitman 2 alone last year. I almost bought The Getaway alone last year:

Lady at till: Hello.

Alan: Hi. *hands over copy of the Getaway for PS2 and 20 pounds*

Lady: *puts money in till* *hands me the game in bag*

Lady: *gives me 1 pence change*

Alan: *smirking* *walks off*

Lady: Hold on! You aren't eighteen.

Alan: *turns around* *Damn!*

Alan: *walks back. gives game. takes back money. leaves.*

The age rating system obviously isn't effective enough, they need to try something else, instead of just banning a game to side-step the issue. I admit I've played games in the past when I shouldn't have, I bought GTA3 when I was 16, and I was allowed to have it because my father was with me at the time. But nontheless, I still got hold of the game regardless of the age rating system.

I agree with Lou Role, the boy was had obvious mental problems if he murdered his so-called friend. People who cannot cope with these violent games and cannot see the difference between reality and gaming so not be allowed access to games like Manhunt.

But it isn't fair to ban it completely as 99% of gamers can see the difference between gaming and real life, so it shouldn't be banned so that the minority of gamers who cannot see the difference can't play it.

I am only twelve years of age but I don't go out and behead anyone because 'the game told me to'. It obviously contains hardcore violence and gore, that is why it is labeled with the '18' rating. People under 18 shouldn't purchase it unless of course, the are mature enough.

It is a law that you cannot buy an '18' rated game under the age of eighteen. So anyone who does that is, I suppose, breaking the law. It is like if you are ten years of age and you try to drive a car. The law is 18, but if your father lets you drive it, then you are responsible for your actions. If you crash the car, and you die, your father would be to blame. They don't ban that car from production. Why isn't this the case with games?

It is unfair to get such a fine game banned just because some immature person abuses it.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
