Actually it doesn't reduce their chances of winning at all.
When I checked this on Friday afternoon, I found that the last 8 Gameady winners from discussion points were NOT the initial post. The winning comment was something that had come later, ie something that had developed through discussion.
So less new topics, and more wll thought discussion on the topics we already have will probably increase their chances of winning, not reduce it.
