I've bidded on an item which has half an hour left, for 50p.

The seller just got a Q&A asking why it's so cheap, and he replied that he would not sell the item unless bidding reached 112. Surely he can't do this? If the highest bid is 50p, then he has to sell for that, right?

Has he specified a 'reserve' price? If he has then he's well within his rights. If he hasn't, then he is also well within his rights, but it is very bad e-bay etiquette. If a sellar wants a particular price to be met, then they Should specify the reserve price.

No reserve price, and nothing about this in the original auction. I only found out about it because I send him a question.

Like I said, it is bad etiquette, but I think somewhere in the notices in the e-bay small print it says something like "Sellers have the right to withdraw any item at any time without prior warning" or something like that.

Reason Number 567 why I won't use E-bay.

If he doesn't sell it and hasn't specified a reserve price he HAS to sell it to you.

What item is it?
