Around 200,000 teenagers are to receive £100 bonuses this week, under a government scheme which rewards them for continuing in education.
... had good enough attendance and effort levels last term to pick up the extra payments, which will be repeated in July and December.

So, on top of the £30 means tested "allowance", they get a bonus for simply turning up? Way to spend our money, jackasses.
I hate it because me and my friend have exactly the same timetable, he messes around in lessons, never does the homework and bunks half the time and he gets £30 EMA a week, whereas i try hard in school, do the homework and don't bunk, but get absolutely nothing to go to school.
This means my friend can go out with his mates at weekends and spend his £30 on whatever he wants, whereas I have to go out to work at weekend to earn the £30, so i get hardly any free time because i have to earn the money whereas my friend just gets the money for doing nothing.
I 've always had the belief that a class should consist of people who all want to be there. The same applies to those on new deal too.
I've got an interview tommorrow anyway.
And I'm not THAT picky, I've handed in about 20 CV's to different places in the past 2 months or so, and my interview tommorrow is the only reply I've actually had.
The rest just ignore me.
I've got a dead cert job lined up over the summer anyway, the reson I know it's a dead cert is becasue my sisters boyfriend owns the company.
To say that you can't get a job because you haven't had one before and therefore have no experience is grade-A horse apples. Everyone has to start somewhere.
I should imagine most people on this forum have had some crappy little job just to earn a little pocket money. I know I have.
> Just because someone's parents don't earn a lot of money, doesn't mean
> that they are 'lazy'.
That's true, but jsut because someones parents earn more than 30,000 a year doesn't mean they get loads of money either.
I get money for lunch from my parents and birthday/Christmas presents (Which I'll have no more of until Christmas this year).
That's it.
I'm one of the highest achieving, award winning super ultra mega pupils at my school, and I get fack all.
I'm trying to get a job, but everylne wants experienced workers, so I can't get experience, because nowhere will hire me.
Vicious circle. Hoorah.
So, in short, I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves, I'm just a poor boy from a rich family, I can't believe that I'm in this monstrosity.
:-(
Oh, and just because I get lunch money doesn't mean I'm rich either, people get lunches for free if they're poor, I have to well (well, my parents do).
Bleh.
Not sure what to spend it on though, any ideas? :P
38 x 30 = £1140.
Plus say, 3 payments of £100 = £1440.
Surely the Goverment could just save that money for the student and pay their tuition fees which are set to go up in 2006?
