I've got all the settings I need (I use Pipex for ADSL) and I've configured the modem, but the ADSL light just doesn't light up and the modem's system log says "DSL carrier down". I've tried two different modem-to-ADSL cables and there's no mention of not being able to log in on Pipex's website. Unfortunately I've unplugged and packed away my USB modem so I can't try that at the moment.
My ethernet port is configured properly and, as I said, I can access the modem to configure it.
One thing: there an option to do tests on the modem - F4 Seg, F4 End, F5 Seg and F5 End ... what ever they mean - and they all fail.
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

> Have you tried doing setting up a manual connection as apposed to using the software?
There is no software as such - it's configured via a web browser and the settings are saved in non-volatile memory.

I haven't done that ... bearing in mind I'm on a Mac.
Network Places -->
View Network Connetions -->
Create a New Connetion -->
(Window comes up Click Next) -->
Check 'Connect to the Internet', then press Next -->
Check 'Set up my account manually' press next -->
Check 'Connenct Using a Dial Up Modem' press next -->
Select your New modem from the List, Press Next -->
Type in a Name, Pipex will do, press Next -->
In the Phone Number Box type 0,38 (include the comma) Press next -->
Type in the Username and Password for Pipex, and uncheck the firewall box, press next -->
Add a Shortcut to your desktop, and then use this connection
Let me know how you get on mate.
