It is safe to say I am REALLY looking forward to Zelda and Pokemon XD this year (and Geist to a smaller but otherwise essential degree), 2 Christmas treats.

But as a Christmas present I WAS planning on getting a Nintendo DS. Already there are some games I'd like, Pac-Pix, Mario 64 DS, Wario Ware, Touch! Kirby and Yoshi's Touch and Go. But the Christmas line up looks immense. Nintendogs appears a good laugh, Snowboard Kids is back and I am truly looking forward to Goeman. Don't get me started on Mario and Luigi 2 (Dances) and Metroid Prime. It is also online and I have wi-fi (yay).

I have no intention on getting a PSP (even if I do love Medievil) but Microsoft's new system looks the nuts!

A few good games at E3 could easily sway me.

So what do you think?

What elements? Not hardware, not software, not firmware.

So what does the Xbox 360 do that a PC does, but that no other console does?

I can see the similarities of the Xbox to a PC, because the hardware is basically the same and because there is a larger software component compared to previous consoles. There is also integrated services, like Xbox Live which is more like a PC service than other consoles. So the Xbox is very similar to a PC.

But Xbox 360 is a completely different type of hardware, which was the main reason for Xbox and PC comparisons, so that reason is gone. Plus, where the Xbox had this level of integration that PS2 and Gamecube didn't have, this will be the norm for the next generation of consoles. So the Xbox 360 will be less like a PC and more like any other console.

The Xbox 360 is no more similar to a PC than any other console. The only thing it can vaguely be compared to is an Apple.

Yes, buy a £200 handheld, or tap a few sites into your internet browser and get the same stuff. Right.

Touch Screen
Nintendo games
Dual Screen
Microphone
Pictochat
GBA backwards compatibility.

PSP has none of those.

Fable has character and I like it's replay value.

It's not such a great RPG though.

What would be good would be a combination of the detailed efforts made in Fable's character with the gameplay efforts of some other titles.

The only problem is that some of the better styled games tend not to be as good gameplay-wise like Midtown Madness and Mech Assault.

Once they strike the right balance we'll have some godly stuff.

I agree with that.

The added Xbox Live play has made the rather souless affairs seem a hell of a lot more fun though.

Oh and Fable was excellent you bumfaced poo poo head.

Forza motorsport looks to have the microsoft curse of some games. It looks soul-less (and has been described as such on GamerTV) with a lack of decent 'moments' and far too much emphasis placed on tinkering with not enough on fun.

A few MS games can come across this way, Halo for instance, although a great game, seemed to be made entirely of wipe-clean surfaces.

Nintendo have character whereas Microsoft try to buy it and then aim for the LCD a bit too much with it.

Yeah sure MS titles sell bucketloads and with other players involved they get much better but on their own do they make you feel much?

MicroSanitised.

i didn't read the main thing but, how can you compare a rubbish handheld to the mighty Xbox 360? The Xbox is better in every way you can think of.
