i'd rarther extreamely detailed 2d graphics, cant see the point in making 3d modals if u can only see um from a 2d perspective. From those screens it looks half as classy or stylish (in a mario sense) than any of the SNES mario games.

In what way is Paper Mario:
a) 2D (apart from the character models you idiot)?

Paper Mario 2? How long ago was that released? Anyway they should make a new 3d mario where you can play as all the characters!

Because they already made Mario 64 DS...? And another game very similar in a very short time period would be pointless and probably wouldn't sell too well...? Maybe... But also they haven't done any (new) 2D Mario games in ages.

It's been too long since I've played a good sidescroller, and without a proper analogue stick the DS is a little unsuited to full-3d gaming.
What I think would be even better would be a Pandemonium style 3D environment, even if the gameplay was still 2D.
It would look a little less cheesy then, giving nice sharp 2D gameplay while still allowing for some gorgeous eye candy background. :-)

They did...Super Mario Sunshine and Nintendo were thanked with moans and groans.
Anyway, you can't really judge a sidescroller until you play it. Hell, if I did with Rolo the Elephant, I'd've never realised how good it is!
