It is just one big noise. Not defined. You cant say "ooh theres Kirk setting the fret board on fire, I wish I was kirk". St Anger itself is mostly drums and bass.

Solos are the key to every Metallica song.

When I put on a Metallica album I want to hear a man madly making love with his guitar, not trying to kill it like on St. Anger

It would have been so much better with solos. Metallica are known for it. One would not have been half the song without its solo.

The biggest selling Metallica album is the black album. It sold over 20 million units. Something closer to that would have pleased more people. It had its thrash moments and it had solos, and even a few gentler moments. It was and still is their defining moment.

I do like St Anger, but I feel it wastes some of Kirk Hammetts talent. On St Anger you can hardly hear the guitar and that is a waste. Metallica are a metal band. You should hear the guitar!
