Might you be tempted to spend £199 tomorrow with the launch of the Sony Reader? It's just like Amazons Kindle (which we still dont have). It can store up to 160 ebooks and even plays mp3s.

I think my mum count use one as she's always having problems reading small print books and this allows you to increase the text size.

Why not get an iPod touch? It can do the same thing, looks nicer works better and may still get you a couple of Ooos from your mates.

In my opinion, I like actually holding the book itself, I think it makes you feel more connected to the book. So this isn't for me.

The DS, too, has some nice ebook readers.

Count? I caught a feature on the gadget show (whilst flicking channels) where they said the Sony only allows you to download Ebooks from their store. Doesn't that sort of nullify the point of a portable reader; free literature! Also, it may play MP3s, but what doesn’t these days and it would have to be a lot cheaper than my current solution of Bookr on a Psp to tempt me.

I'm hoping Amazon Vine will give us some to review like the US Amazon system gave their members the other ebook reader.

Yeah these arent backlit but if you already have trouble with your eyes reading normal books then probably not a good idea. :)

Apparently the only time it uses any power is when you turn the page.

Not for me thanks, my eyes get strained enough reading a book for ages, let alone something that's backlit or whatever...
