I'm sure I recognise it, as end credits music, but I can't place where it's from. Any ideas?

Pachelbel's Canon in D was used in the film Ordinary People (the choir scene) back in 1980, if you haven't seen that one then more recently it was used in Wedding Crashers (2005).

If you think you've heard it in a videogame, it's probably because it's included in the Gran Turismo 4 soundtrack.
