The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Do the avatars deter new users?
Work is progressing on the chat forum system to enable you (Freeola customers) to have ready made forums on your web sites.
Freeola Bingo is much improved now that it runs constantly. Originally suggested on the forums, Freeola Bingo was intended to give the forums a boost. By the way, it's not intended to be a permanent fixture and Google won't allow us to advertise it, even though it's free.
The site gets thousands of visitors and hundreds of new sign-ups per day, but this is hardly evident on the forums.
It does not seem worthwhile to me, to have eight different forums generating small numbers of posts. Maybe there should only be one.
As the rest of Gameaday is games orientated wouldn't it be better to have one focal point and declare this a games forum. After all you can still chat and post intelligent threads or stories, or talk about wrestling, regardless of what the forums are actually called. Back to our roots perhaps.
Or have chat forums "had their day"?
PM is not to everyone's taste, no. But the fact is, there are groups of us, all similar age, all of similar minds, who can feed off of each other; be it creatively or simply being stupid and messing around. Outside of that there are others who find the whole thing to be more mature (i.e in terms of asking serious questions/posting serious stuff, yes, it does happen), while maintaining a silly, teenage/young adult, sometimes foul, mostly good natured community.
Obviously Freeola censors, which is its perogative. This is all a bit meandering, but that's what makes PM vibrant to me. Freeola can't really go down that route, due to its nature and the way it was not designed FOR a certain group of people. Hence it can't ever be like it was ages ago, unless it attracts a new load. Which I haven't seen happen. Chat forums aren't dead, they just need a kick. FM/IB had some pointz.

No they didn't.
Secondly, people like LadyBird posting crap about a personal issue which has no place here doesn't help the situation. Unneeded hostility towards someone due to a back story which most people don't know or care about isn't the most positive content for a forum.
I think some good points have been made in this thread. I really hope Tony will help us turn things around for GameADay. There's some really friendly and creative people on here.
I'm not sure what point you're making here, Al. You responded to my post and now are saying you...didn't read it?
Whatever.
