When/if i do eventually hook me little 'cube up to the net, will i get serious lag with a 56k modem? I'm expecting a little bit, but if the lag problem is too big, i think i'll give this whole "internet gaming" thing a miss. Any help would go down well, i may even give you a half eaten bit of chocolate, but don't quote me on that.

There.

In the case of PSO, there will be both 56k and 512k users.

Can you possibly get any more idiotic?

Amazon are billing it as Nintendo's launch, with Nintendo's blessing of course.....

It isn't Nintendo's launch though is it.

It's all 3rd party.

Hardly any really, but you've got two kinds of games, those with a server and those which are peer to peer. Peer to peer games like Mech Assault on the Xbox have lag when someone hosts a game with too many players on it for their speed of connection, whilst BB is 512k on paper not everyone gets that all of the time. PSO will be a server game, thats what your paying your money for, so its also why you can mix broadband and 56k connections. Even then, your paying £35 for a network adaptor, and monthly for PSO alone, and the same will be true for other games, so it's going to be quite expensive compared to Live! - once you've paid Live's year fee then it's unlimited games with a few exceptions.

I think Nintendo should have waited to get more online games ready, as it is it's a somewhat crap launch with one online game.
