i wanna over-clock a few things, but so far i am only aware of a few things.

i want info on what kind of temperature my CPU is perfectly OK at. atm my CPU is running at 50 C. and it's a hot day. so, what kind fo temperature would create a compromise between speed and lifetime?

also, the voltages on CPU, DRAM and AGP are as follows:

CPU mhz: 1729.00Mhz

CPU: 1.596
DRAM: 2.5
AGP: 1.5

The APCI, DRAM and AGP clock, frequnecy or SOMETHING are as follows:

DRAM: 266
AGP: 66
PCI: 33

OK, you overclocking techie's - you should know what i'm on about, so help me please....

note: the tool i'm using is Gigabyte Easytune 4.

My CPU is at 52C, even when under light load...

It's to do with the cooling... the heatsink is losing its contact with the CPU.

I'm a bit worried now. I'm meant to have an XP2800+, but it says on POST and in Windows system information that the CPU is running at 1243MHz. Is this correct? :/

*Strokes tbred*

You can still pick up these lovely JIUHB DLT3C XP1700s for £43, mine hits XP2600 speeds with no problems (in slightly cooler weather, but this is with a cooler I've taken off a duron 750). Stays around 50C, I do need a new HSF at some point, but it's not high on my list of stuffs to buy..

How :O/

My XP2000 idles at about 55 degrees with a very expensive heatsink, 4 case fans and a PSU fan directly above it. Is yours a Palomino or Thoroughbred core?

seeing as my motherboard obstructs the second of the two CD-Drive bays, you COULD say i need a bigger case.....

You're better to have proper cooling.

A big case helps too.
Big and spacious.

i just had a fiendish idea. What if i rotate the PC around a little so that my portable plastic fan can blow into the side, and hopefully cool stuff off a bit. though i am concrened - what if it blows dust INTO the components?

And the cooler master copper sink is probably a lot better than the sucky AMD heatsink.
