You're right. Instead of being a really fun game, it's become overly technical with too many mods. When the next one comes out, the number of leagues and amount of news should be cut, and 2D pitch should only be an option, as should attribute masking.

I dont think i'm gonna bother with CM4 anymore. Just gone the wrong direction for my liking. Game isnt as fun anymore.

Been playing Cm93/94 (D/L free on SIgames.com)every week with my m8 at UNI for the last month or so cos we have a huge gap between lectures on one day. Just finished our first season with him as Man U and me as liverpool. I won the title easy and he finished 7th!

The game is surprisingly good for 10 years old.

Well, I've got CM3, CM 00/01, CM 01/02 and CM 03/04, and I can honestly say CM 01/02 was the best one for gameplay. It's all because it got hi-tech after the 4th version came out, replacing the old upgraded versions of CM3.

And I never gave up my Hereford United squad on CM3. That was, until I got 00/01. :)

And because it's the one I've got.

Steadily becoming outdated, but I SHALL NEVER give up my Sampdoria squad.

NEVER!

Indeed. CM4 and 03/04 have had some great technology implemented in them, but they cannot match the way in which 01/02 was so great: It was brilliant in its simplicity.

I always find it annoying and yet never turn it off......

It is kinda more realistic and makes the game a bit more tricky.

All I can say is that it's a far better game in general.

Is it possible to turn off attribute masking, and if so, how do you do it? It's the most annoying feature of the CM games.
