Isn't the only dog tag in the ascending colon the one you get off Snake? There are 2 opportunities to get this.

1.When you get HF blade. Turn to the blunt side and whack him repeatedly. Alternatively unequip the blade and kick him into unconsciousness.

2. After you fight all the guards just after you get the blade. Don't go thru the door at the end of the room. Knock him out by any means, M9, HF blade, or your fists.

When snake is down, pick him up and let him go. He will give a different name depending on the difficulty mode, and it will be someone famous, i.e. Meryl, Pliskin, or Snake.

Meryl?!

I only got Pliskin or Snake....but never Meryl

What difficulty mode didst thou try it in? You can get dog tags in Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme remember. Here are the ones I got:

Very Easy- Iroquois Pliskin
Easy- Meryl Silverburgh
Normal- Solid Snake
Hard- Liquid Snake
Extreme- Hideo Kojima

In case you didn't know Hideo Kojima is the maker of Metal Gear Solid and thus on a par with God.
