MGS2 is probably the most sound game around. I know all of you will have your preferances, but through the critics eye, MGS2 is near-prefect...
But then again, would there be room for Snake Solid if Mario hadn't opened up the gaming industry?! I don't think so!
In my book, Shigsy wins, not just because of his 'wacky' games, although they're a deciding factor, but more because of what he's done for the industry. Mario Bros. broke ground... it has done everytime an installment of the series was released... and then running around in full 3D in Super Mario 64... Gaming heaven!
I don't really think Hideo has done half as much for the industry... My views may be one-sided, but I don't see how...
Based on my knowledge... which isn't loads but a lot... Shigsy is overall a better contributor to the industry...
Shigsy 1 - 0 Hideo
Who'll score next?
You decide.
Game
Shigsy is using the latest technology to get the most of old ideas.
Personally, I prefer moire radical games desigenrs (hence my name! and love of NAKA!)

Shigsy is the producer of the classic games. The marios zeldas and metroids. However, lately has not produced anything "new". What must be said thaough is that when he does make a game it usually completely revolutionises that genre. Mario 64 was the first proper 3D game, and Zelda completely changed the idea of combat systems.
However, Kojima is looking towards the future, and setting goals before he knows what the hardware can do. MGS2 is the first truely intelligent game... the way you can knock enemies out, drag them round a corner into a loud room, and then punch them into submission without anyone hearing ther.... errrrr

The look has improved and the gameplay is just as fantastically addictive as ever and yes, Shigeru Miyamoto has paved the way for many games throughout the history of gaming. But other than jumping on the 3D bandwagon I don't see how Shigsy has taken gaming in a new direction.
Hideo, however, he's relatively new to the gaming indusrty (when compared with Miyamoto anyway) and he is obviously a man with big ideas. MGS brought us a quality of gaming and involvement in storyline rarely seen on a console. With ZOE he brought fantastic graphical developments and innovative gameplay.
I'm sure we've not, by any means, seen all Miyamoto has to offer but having seen glimpses of what Hideo Kojima has to offer in the form of MGS2 I must side with he!!!!
Big up dem Hideo!
I have played many Mario games (Mario 64 I've played quite a lot), and I've played MGS, MGS2 Demo and Zone Of The Enders.
My favourite game ever is Metal Gear Solid. No doubt. My second favourite game ever, is ZOE. Both produced by Hideo Kojima.
It seemed to me before E3 that Shigsy just wasn't...willing to try anything new.
Kojima however has gone for shoot 'em ups, Robot Battle games etc.
Of course, with the announcement of 'Pikmin', that may be able to change.
Although Pikmin doesn't really sound like my cup of tea.
It's down to taste, I suppose. Mario never really got to me, where as MGS and ZOE did.
Also, in all Kojima's games, the storyline's were amazing...
Well, in my opinion, Kojima wins. But that's only my opinion.
No three-way dances here, lad!
Pick one... or the other!
