There's a bird in my garden eating one of our local pigeons. I think it's a hawk, or an eagle or something - looks like one of those ones they put the hood on and make it fly between medieval warrior's arms for scraps. Got some pictures, just uploading...nothing gory, I'd really like to know what sort of bird this is.

Not very good quality as I had to zoom in, but you can make out the shape and colours, which I'm sure means something to someone.

In that second on it looks like it had one of those little hoods on, but it wouldn't wear one, no matter how hard I chased it.

Sorry, no you couldn't.

You could lead the Soviet Empire though.

Not only does it remove birds from your garden, it cooks them too.

Dinner, anyone?

Although as a vegetarian, I'd just have to sell them to you guys

For the ultimate garden bird defence, you can't go much further than this:

I was awoke to the high pitched squeak of a pipistrelle bat circling my light fixture one evening. I'd had a smoke earlier that night so had trouble getting my head around the idea. It eventually landed on my curtains, so I managed to flick it out the window. Madness, but it cheered me up. Tiny little things barely bigger than an inch.

Yeah, sparrowhawk. I've seen them in my garden too.
