WWE Unforgiven 2005
September 18th, 2005
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Ford Center

Heat
Rob Conway vs Tajiri
Prediction: Conway
Result: Conway
Match: I missed it as I was in the bath :D
Rating: N/A

1. IC Title
Carlito (c) vs Ric Flair
Prediction: Flair
Result: Flair (11:47)
Match: Carlito choked on an apple, allowing Flair to get on the Figure Four. Coach exclaims "He's choking!" whilst we can clearly see he's managed to clear his airway.
Rating: 6/10 - it went on FAR too long. Sod's law, the good matches will last about 5 seconds.

After the match, Flair got on the mic, saying this was a sweet title victory blah blah, before flobbing on the belt and "whooo"ing at it. Flair, a married man (but notorious for his partying, heh heh :0D), picked a bunch of planted local "valets" out of the crowd posing as fans, exclaiming he'd go party with them. That's if you consider screwing, banging and shelving partying. Lucky sod.

Oh, and Carlito hit the Grish.

Lita and Edge talk backstage about how they're gonna own Matt Hardy later.

2. Torrie Wilson & Victoria vs Ashley & Trish Stratus
Prediction: Ashley & Trish Stratus
Result: Ashley & Trish Stratus (7:06)
Match: Ashley is a horrible wrestler. She can't execute any moves properly, and she tried to be better than she was by just flipping over a prone Victoria :0D. Ended when Trish nailed one of them with the Chick Kick. I wasn't really paying attention.
Rating: 4.5/10 - again, it lasted far too long, and the only thing that bought this rating up was Trish pulling off three impressive moves. Not impressive enough for me to remember, though.

Flair's backstage with his bints, and kisses one of them, before sending them into his limo. He pops some viagra, checks how many bints there are, and takes some more.

A rather amusing advert for the 3-hour RAW when they move back to USA Network on October 7th airs.

Lillian Garcia reminds us that ZZ Top are at ringside.

3. The Big Show vs Gene Snitsky
Prediction: The Big Show
Result: The Big Show (6:07)
Match: They looked like they botched a few things, and Big Show wanted to end it quickly, but Snitsky didn't.
Rating: 4/10 - well, at least this one didn't go too long, but it was a pretty terrible and forgettable match. It was so bad that half-way through, they cut to weeks ago on RAW. And if you've seen the quality of WWE programming, you know that means the match sucked hard.

Post match, Big Show nailed Snickers with the ring bell twice.

Then we cut to Flair's limo, and "steam" (although I'm guessing someone actually had a bong) was emerging out of the it.

A promo airs for Masters vs HBK, despite the fact that the match isn't next.

HBK is preparing for his match backstage.

4. Kerwin White vs Shelton Benjamin
Prediction: Shelton Benjamin
Result: Shelton Benjamin (8:04)
Match: Kerwin was seemingly going for a DQ loss when he went to hit Shelton with the golf club, but Shelton avoided, threw Kerwin in the air, sort of caught him, and then nailed him with a brilliant T-Bone.
Rating: 7/10 - It actually had some decent wrestling. A nice superplex from Kerwin, and a great finish from the Sheltster.

The Grish talks to Matt Hardy backstage about his upcoming Cage Match with Edge.

A promo airs for Hardy vs Edge.

5. Cage Match
Matt Hardy vs Edge
Prediction: Matt Hardy
Result: Matt Hardy (21:33)
Match: After giving Edge a HUGE pasting, Matt nailed a legdrop from the top of the cage for the win.
Rating: 8.5/10 - Now THAT is a match. The last 10 minutes were pretty damn tense, and there was a lot of times I thought Edge was going to win via screwjob. And what's better, they actually let it go to distance. I'm fairly sure this'll be match of the night.

As John Cena prepares for his match, Eric Bischoff comes backstage to berate him.

Back at ringside, Edge is helped backstage by referees.

6. Tag Titles
Hurricane & Rosey (c) v Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
Prediction: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
Result: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch (7:40)
Match: Hurricane got owned about half-way through and Rosey got killed with an Eliminator-esque clothesline.
Rating: 6.5/10 - Nothing special, and the Hurricane being injured was pretty lame.

Back at Flair's limo, one of the bints emerges with his Naitch robe on.

Maria interviews Chris Masters, in a cringe-worthy segment (including references to both fapping and the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles).

7. Chris Masters vs Shawn Michaels
Prediction: Chris Masters
Result: Shawn Michaels (16:45)
Match: Masters couldn't quite get in the Masterlock, and HBK managed to nail him with Sweet Chin Music for the pin.
Rating: 7.5/10 - Pretty good, but it could've been a lot better, I feel.

Flair's little gangster bang continued in the limo, and the women all finally left. Flair emerged with half his bum crack showing, much to my distaste. He finally pulled his trunks up, only to collapse on the floor.

A promo aired for the 3-hour RAW on October 7th.

A promo aired for Cena vs Angle.

8. WWE Title
John Cena (c) vs Kurt Angle
Prediction: Kurt Angle
Result: Kurt Angle via DQ (17:17
Match: Cena hit Angle with the belt, and the downed referee managed to see.
Rating: 7.5/10 - Again, not bad, but the ending was horrible. I wanted a clean win from Angle.

Overall, a pretty meh event. Only match that's really worth watching was Hardy vs Edge.

Heh nice swerve there, ah well this is the only match on the card that could possibly get higher than a half a star rating from moi (depends how much Shelton botches)

Anyway off to bed, shall mock it in more depth tomorrow :-D

Matt Hardy vs Edge was by far the best match of the night. Hopefully that will be the end of it now but knowing how WWE like to drag stories out we'll probably see another match soon.

MATT F'N HARDY BABY!

That was a great, great match. The crowd were fully behind it, which always helps, and the ending was simply uber.

The rest of the event was pretty meh. Angle, Cena wasn't bad, but could have been a lot better and the ending was just plain crap.

I agree with Hardy/Edge being the match of the night. So many times i thought Matt was going to get screwed just to push Edge.

The finish was brilliant, and for someone who is not to up on how easy it is to get injured i would ask someone who does know...was the Leg Drop off the top dangerous for Hardy? I would imagine it was because its like jumping off of my conservatory onto my ass. I would imagine it could jar your back or something?

Angle vs Cena was poor with the finish just sticking a big fat full stop on how crap it was. Cena's about as good as the Undertaker for selling an injury. The guy supposedly got his ankle almost broken 6 days before the show and he's there just flying around the ring, picking up Angle with ease with not so much as a limp for most of the match.

Might want to focus on Cena first Trips with guys who can't perform a proper match

At the RAW homecoming a week on Monday it's yet another Edge vs Matt Hardy match with the winner getting the money in the bank briefcase and the loser having to leave RAW, although that probably only means them moving over to Smackdown.

Here's hoping it's as good as their Unforgiven match!

Is it just a normal match or a stipulation match?

I really enjoyed their Street Fight and especially their Cage Match. The match at Summerslam was pretty poor.

Edge has been in a lot of stipulation matches lately, starting with Kane and now Hardy.
