Having recently viewed 'Akira', 'Blood: The Last Vampire' and 'Spirited Away' I'm keen to explore the genre further, but some of the titles on offer seem a little (how should I put this?) 'not my cuppa tea' (e.g. too damn crazy).

If there are any fans here of similar films to those I already listed then I'd appreciate some recommendations that aren't too insane. I don't want anything that's just an excuse for random animated soft porn either.

Cheers, people.

You should definatly check out more of Studio Ghibli's films (people who made Spirited Away). I have nine of their films on DVD, and they are some of the best animations I've ever seen. I bought mine here: http://www8.cd-wow.com/searchresults.php?PHPSESSID=e30946736b1b28d45a4b2798a1ea777a&searchfield=Ghibli You need a multi region DVD player though. Out of that list Mononoke, Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky are essentials. More info on the films can be found http://www.nausicaa.net I also recommend Tokyo Godfathers.

Full Metal Alchemist is superb - and if you even consider yourself liking Manga, you MUST watch Ghost In the Shell. Not the series, the film - it's incredible.

Series to watch - Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop. Both so amazing. Hope that helps, and enjoy :D

At the moment I am watching Magic Users Club, Comic Party, Naruto, Last Exile and some other stuff.

I love FMA, trying to get my ex to watch it.

I spent the last week watching all 26 episodes of Azumanga Daioh. I found it hilarious overall, and the last two episodes also really touching. Del Rogeo, http://www.advfilms.com/titles/azumanga/ for trailers, info and suchlike.
