It's about that time again.

Most of you know how it works by now, but for those who don't - every three months (or so ;)) we hold an election to promote one of our regular members to Notable status. Notable is a position to honour that user's contributions to UKchatforums.com - they don't get any further rights or abilities within the forum, but their status is changed and their name is written in gold to draw the eyes, respect and jealousy of the purple Regulars.

On the day (Thursday 11th August), an official thread will be started by a staffie (most likely me) where every Regular member and Notable will have one vote to cast for who they want to see elevated to such a lofty status. Newbies and JATs will be unable to vote I'm afraid.

Last election we also held a vote to demote someone from their position of notable back down to regular - while this went well, we've not yet decided whether to continue this new, possibly cruel addition to the elections. If you have any thoughts on this, let us know here and we'll make a decision before the day is due.

Til then, mark 11/8/05 in your diaries and make sure you're here for what may be the most important vote you'll ever make.

It's not as if the voting for getting rid of people will be terribly diverse:

Well, yes, but that's logical as voting people off is a new thing. And, as has already been said, the running is only ever between a few contenders, with random votes here and there - so it isn't as interesting

There seems to be more interest in voting off someone than actually voting someone in - that's new.

I'm flattered, really. My heart's all aflutter.

Who was it that suggested voting off Insane Bartender? What an idiot, they must be punished.

I think the staffies must respond to the support for voting off a notable. In fact, why not just get rid of Sniper right now?

I knew it ;

His personal life and health have come under scrutiny - he has suffered from testicular cancer and had to have one testicle removed, later making a full recovery. He has also had an unsuccessful hair transplant and has had trouble with the law over alcohol and drugs.

I think it was something about doing something with balls and he's do his best seeing that he only had one. Can't recall it for sure and it's annoying me now.

Good 'ol Google

http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/communicate/jimmy_white.shtml , role on the White-ster. It didn't have any information about the joke but it had his name plastered all over it

Apparently he's a heartbreak, presumably a shortened heartbreaker or a Snooker related heart-throb

It's hardly surprising you won Cash at Training School, did you hussle the five-year olds out of their snack money ?

And as for Jimmy Whites' joke, I'd imagine it was something about getting a break or potting Black
