That new Doctor Who has just started, and so far it's about as exciting as waiting for the washing machine to finish. The worst thing (apart from everything) is the terrible music they've used to enhance the scenes. Seriously bad piece of MIDI cheese. Considering the size of the BBC Orchestra they should be able to do better. And somehow it still ended up as the original Doctor Who theme tune with a drum and bass beat that sounds like it came from FruityLoops hacked over the top.

Christopher Ecclestone could be quite good, but I've got a feeling it'll sucks more donkeys balls that the Brighton Beach tornado of 1924.

I thought that it was alright... although I hope they go back to proper stories if they make another series.
When stories used to span 3-6 episodes, they normally had a little more plot and devellopment. This one reminded me of when I saw the first Harry Potter film.

I guess that the modern TV audience just don't have the patience or attention span to cope with "multi episode" stories nowdays.
Perhaps they'll try it in the next series, once they've grabbed their audience.

Other than that it was pretty much Dr Who as always.
A good return.

And to the one who said something about the Police Box being out of place as a disguise, that's because the disguise mechanism broke when he was in 1960's London (which you'd know if you'd watched the old ones! :-P).

Ah, I didn't know that.
And he seemed to imply that it looked like that on purpose.

I was also under the impression that the Doc couldn't actually control the tardis - but here it seems he can.

It's probably just a case of the writers dumbing it down slightly so it doesn't seem too sci-fi and geeky. Maybe they felt that if they had a load of scientific reasoning behind everything, such as a broken cloaking device, it would put some people off.

It's his sense of humour. ;-)

Yeah.
He had no control as the first two doctors.
As the third doctor he was refined to earth and was working on fixing it.
I think that somewhere along the lines he managed to get control of it...
