I think it's finally happened. I never thought it would but I'm sure it has.

Ever since I first played Sonic the Hedgehog on the Megadrive I've been hooked on games. I bought my own Sega Saturn (I'm a traitor to Nintendo, I know) and played it much more than I should. I had the urge to get through every level and get 100% on every game and I bought as many new games as I could.

Soon, the Saturn died and I moved on to the N64. The day I got that was amazing. I only had Mario 64 for about three months but it didn't matter, I was content to play on that all the time and I was desparate to get those elusive stars to make my game complete. My collection of games quickly began to grow though and games such as Banjo-Kazooie and DK64 kept me playing for hours on end without breaks. My love for games was at its peak.

I still had my N64 and the Saturn in the loft but I wanted more so I got a Playstation. The N64 still got most of my attention because as we all know the games were better but I now had enough to keep occupied and take away my social life. Any time I did meet up with mates we always ended up playing games, no talk, games, no eat, games, no football, games.

The N64 was in its last few months. Many had PS2s but I was holding out for the Gamecube. The N64 had treated me well, I owed it to Nintendo. When it came (from SR actually) I was just as happy as the day I got my N64. For months I played Mario Sunshine, SSBM, and Starfox Adventures BUT I'd lost the desire to complete my games. Mario Sunshine is still sitting on a shelf with about 15 shines still to get and there are another 3 trophies for me to collect on SSBM. In fact, there are only 2 games out of my 26 that I've 100% completed on the Gamecube.

The last few months have been the worst. In the last 4 months I have bought just 2 games, one of which I won; Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime 2. I played AC for the first week or so but it bored me. The Metroid Prime 2 came and I thought my faith would be fully restored. I've enjoyed playing, it's a great game, but I haven't been playing not stop for hours like I would have a couple of years ago.

So it's finally happened. I've become a casual gamer.
