Alternatively I think just sending the disk back to the manufacturer would be a better plan. Not that my Maxtor disks ever die.

Stick one of those sachets of silica gel in the bag and leave it for a few days first. That'll absorb any moisture.

What about the moisture already in the bag and disks? Harddrives aren't airtight.

Ive never lost any work due to the computer going wrong, purely because i know how to use it...
If people, like my mum, go clicking random things then they happen to make things go wrong.

The freezer fix works. If you have a head crash, where the read head makes physical contact with the drive platter, cooling the hard disk shrinks the two components away from each other. This can, in certain circumstances, give you a few minutes to frantically recover what you can from the drive.
