Only thing worrying me here is the Geforce FX 5500 card. I'm going to be playing alot of games on this thing, yet I just read a review this card isn't one of the best performers for games.
Was looking at a Radeon 9800 XT or something hmmmmmm.
So I have Doom 3 here, if I stick it in on that thing will it still look pretty or erm...run?

Yeah, comparing CPU's on hz alone is an antiquated practice.
what type of graphics card slot do you have on the motherboard as i am assuming it's a APG one.

My current PC is from them, no problems. The PC this post is regarding is in their January sale. Good deal.

You will incur the wrath of the AMD crew *wink *wink ...
That 3500 will take out any (stock) Intel desktop processor currently out, because although clock for clock the Intels are faster, the AMDs do much more work per cycle...
Biggles or Cookie can fill you in if they haven't already below...

No, my 9600XT runs it fine... With good settings.
It's no longer a Geforce FX 5500, it's a Geforce FX 5700 LE.
Worth phoning up and saying "Oi, change that for me I paid the same price", or not?

Clock for clock means instuctions per cycle!
Intels do have a faster clock though, with some parts of the core running at twice the nominal core speed. Yes that means that the uber elite overclocked P4s had parts of their core running at 12 GHz. Which is pretty damn fast.
