Exactly, but the only surefire way to know if a group of initials doesn't exist would be for the letters not to exist.
I bet if you search for CCCP on google only 1 in every 5 results or something will be referring to the USSR.
And, to be honest, I didn't know the CCCP wasn't around in the 20's, as I didn't take history, I just assumed that it had been around since the revolution (which I think was before the 20's, but once again, I didn't take history, so I know nothing). I thought that knowing how steep ridges on mountains were formed was more important.
But Lenin etc. didn't come into power until after that a bit, the Provisional Government had a stab at it.
And I'm doing geography and history.
